Mid-sem PYQ Drill
Fresh problems in the fifteen families that make up the last three mid-sem papers (Mar 2024, Mar 2025, Mar 2026): Bayes with a binomial, hypergeometric or exponential-lifetime likelihood, normal approximation with continuity correction, Poisson regions and Poisson-process waiting times, normal tails read from an MGF or from words, memorylessness, two-piece pdfs, the series-of-games and pmf-recurrence questions. Randomized every visit, answers to 4 decimal places, self-marking, and the method on every answer.
The PYQ page works each past paper question slowly, from zero. This page is step two: the same question shapes with new numbers, until you recognise each one without a hint. Your mid-sem is on 07 Oct, 2:00–3:30 pm, closed book, the same format as the 2026 paper: 90 minutes, 60 marks, final answers to 4 decimal places, and the few Φ values you need printed on the paper. So practise pulling Φ from memory or from a table, and keep your unrounded values until the last step.
For each problem, write the family name before you do any arithmetic, using the key below (e.g. "exponential → binomial → Bayes"). Every one of these papers is a few families stitched together, and naming the pieces is most of the work. Then solve on paper, type your numbers into the boxes, and press Check (±0.0005 is accepted, and fractions like 4/7 work too). If you miss one, open "see the method". Untick families you've mastered to focus the sheet.
This sheet's six
Paper mode: keep every family ticked and give yourself 60 minutes for the six. That's roughly the real paper's pace (60 marks in 90 minutes, and the real questions are longer than these). Weak-spot mode: tick only the families you missed last time.
