Tutorial Practice Drill

Fresh problems in eleven pattern families — nine from Tutorial sheets 1–3, two in the exact format of last year’s Quiz 1 — probability rules, independence, sampling, trees and Bayes, tables, three-event Venns, pmfs, cdfs, and expected-value decisions. Six per sheet, randomized every visit, self-marking, with the method on every answer.

Why this drill exists

Working the tutorial sheets with help is step one. Confidence comes from step two: meeting the same pattern in new clothes and recognising it yourself, without a hint. The tutorial companion holds the originals; this page generates fresh ones. Counting-only patterns (T1 Q1, 2, 4, 14, 16) live in the counting drill — this page covers everything else.

How to drill — name the family first

For each problem, before any arithmetic, write the family name from the key below (e.g. "tree + Bayes"). That one word is the real skill being drilled: "not confident" usually means not knowing which tool to reach for, not failing the arithmetic. Then solve on paper. Reveal, check the family and the answer, and for any miss open "see the method". Untick families you've mastered to focus the sheet.

This sheet's six

Quiz mode: untick everything except the two PYQ families, take just 2 problems, and give yourself 20 minutes — last year’s Quiz 1 was exactly that shape (fill-in-the-blank, 5 decimal places, no partial credit).
