Start drill: the first two minutes

Six fresh circuits a sheet, in the families the past mid-sem papers use. You don't solve them. For each one you make the opening moves: name the family, choose the route, write the first line. Every choice is marked straight away and the reason is shown. About two minutes a circuit.

Why openings only

Following a solution and starting one are different skills, and starting is the one that hasn't been practised. This drill practises only the start, with the algebra removed so each rep is quick. The routine, shown on real past-paper questions, is in the how-to-start lesson. Read that first if you haven't.

How to do a sheet

Before you click, say (or scribble) your answer. Then pick the option that matches it. A pick you made by elimination teaches much less than one you produced yourself. Your first click on each step is the one that's scored. After the last step, "See the full opening" shows the complete first lines, derived from the same circuit. "Finish it" gives the final number where one is cheap to state.
